Imported from beautiful Johannesburg, South Africa, singer/songwriter/engineer and vibrant funny girl, Kara Purto brings a fresh vibe to R&B. Growing up in multi-cultural Toronto, Kara fuses her style from her many influences spanning from Michael Jackson, Etta James and Christina Aguilera to Swedish indie pop songstress Robyn.
Graduating from Harris Institute of the Arts in Audio Production and Recording Arts Management, Kara proved she could run with the best of the boys in a male dominated industry where she spent her first three years working in music publishing. There Kara was able to hone her songwriting skills from listening to and working with some of the best songwriters/producers in the world. Kara currently maintains her music business edge by working at Tanjola Management, home to Juno Award winners Keshia Chante, Dru, platinum recording artists Massari and Shiloh along with songwriters Rupert Gayle, Justin Forsley and the late Haydain “jacksoul” Neale
