lisa kruchak · toronto, canada

Lisa Kruchak is a singer songwriter who hails from Winnipeg Manitoba. Her style is best described as percussive rhythm guitar which incorporates finger picking and drumming on the body of the guitar, folk style song writing with a touch of the blues, and a sultry voice thrown in on top. She has been playing guitar for over 13 years, and has studied under Chet Breau, the son of the legendary Lenny Breau. Chet’s blues and roots influence combined with her love for folk and contemporary alternative music helped to mold my guitar technique.

After university, where she was a broadcaster at CJUM 101.5 FM, she moved to Toronto, in hopes of pursuing a musical career. She has been playing live shows in the Toronto area for the past eight years, honing her craft and contributing to the local arts community. In 2007 she released a six song EP, The Casual EP, which was recorded by Dan Branco at the Lonesome Pine Studios in Toronto. A stripped down solo acoustic affair, with the exception of Aimee Rochard providing back up vocals on a few tracks, the EP has been described as ‘fierce and feminine, spontaneous yet intricate’.
